Splice trays are carriers that hold the splice point and slack of fusion-spliced fibres in an ordered layout, available in 12 and 24 port capacities. A splice protector mechanically supports the bare splice region with a heat-shrink sleeve containing a steel strength rod and seals it against moisture. Leaving at least one metre of slack fibre in the tray makes future re-splicing possible without pulling in new cable.
